Tumitia
The first time the party enters Tumitia, run this scenario:
When the party become visible as they come into sight along the river,
a boy of 15 named Jarok runs up to within 500' of them and hails them.
He asks that he be allowed to approach. He runs up and tells them that
he has been instruced to lead them to the town priest named Benakak.
Benakak worships ChentaiHe points back toward the town and the party
sees a middle aged man approaching at a run. This is Benakak who will
run up to them, pause at about 180' away and bow. He pauses for a
second the runs up to them. He tells them:
The town mayor is very sick. In fact, he is dying. The town
cleric is not very powerful and an emmisary has been sent to Waterdeep
to
fetch one, but the folks in the town are worried that they will
not get back in time. Seeing the grandure of the party and seeing there
are clerics among them, Benakak greets them and tells the party they
are petitioned by the other elders of the
town to see what they can do for the mayor. He has been sick for a
month and nothing they have done has had much effect. They think they
need strong magic. The priest says his cure lt. wnds. has had no effect
on the mayor.
They are taken to building 10 which is a two story building with
a store on the bottom (called Sutek's Sundries). The store is open for
business, but they are led to a stairway in the back that leads to the
upper floor. Upstairs they are led to an open, airy room. It is a
bedroom and in the bed is an old, old man. He is obviously sick. His
skin is yellowish (his liver is packing up) and like parchment. He is
still awake and aware and when the representatives enter, he tries to
rise, then falls back on his pillows saying "Forgive me lords and
ladies, but I am unable to rise. To what do I owe this high honor?"
If asked what is wrong with him, he will dismiss the girl of about 14
who is attending him saying "Laran, would you leave me for a moment?"
Once alone in the room he says "I welcome you in friendship strangers.
My name is Hopese Tumitia and my great grandfather founded this town.
Forgive my familiarities, but I am not well".
His symptoms are - he has not heeded in a week, he can't keep food down
and he has a lot of pain in his stomach.
Unfortunately, there is nothing anyone can do for him. He is dying of
old age.
He asks the party to summon his family which is easy; they are all
waiting downstairs for word on his condition. He asks one or two of the
clerics to attend him and dismisses everyone else.
When the family arrives in his room he tells them that he has been
attended by the most powerful priests he has ever seen and they have
not been able to help him. He explains that it is his time and he is
ready for death. He will begin to take his leave of his family. Ham it
up. Make it as promanant and wrenching as possible.
After kissing each one (there are 9) and giving them words of comfort,
he asks for a prayer of consecration from one of the party clerics. By
the time the prayer is done, he is dead. The party is invited to
attend the wake which is scheduled 2 days from now.
This scenero has only one objective: to humble the clerics and let them
know they can't heal everything and that death is enevatable despite
their strongest magic. This may have a powerful effect on some of the
players!

A Dark Figure, Mistaken Identity 6
(Planet/City/Any/Any, Drow)
OVERVIEW: A dark figure will approach the party on a dark
night and tell
them about a plot to kill a local Noble.
TRIGGER: The PC's are walking down the street at night or
evening when a
dark figure from the alley wispers for them to come over.
DESCRIPTION: Walking down the street, you feel that you are
being watched,
when out of the darkness you hear a quiet voice... "Over here...Over
Here.."
it wispers. Looking over you see a dark figure man sized with a long
cape
pulled close around the body. Again you here the quiet voice "Quick!
Over
here...Hurry!".
DM NOTES: This is a group of drow that are going to attempt
to infultrate
the city, by posing as the party. But to do so they must remove the
party.
They have magic scrolls on them to "Alter Self" to appear as the party
once
they remove the party. After wards when the drow cause the trouble they
wanted to (kill someone or steal something) they release the PC's. The
PC's
will now be responsible for the dorws actions. To make things worse the
Drow
could cast an improved version of Forget (to go back further) so the
PC's
wont remember being captured by the drow (thus no recall of their
actions).
KEY: If the party is removed they could be taken to a hidden
lair
just outside the city, where they are tied up while they drow replace
them
inside the city. This would be good if the PC's are goind to some type
of
social event in the near future.
